MPE309 Data Concentrator Unit
A pole-mounted communications gateway that collects information from nearby fault indicators and forwards it to a monitoring platform or agreed control-centre interface.

From field indication to remote information
The DCU links the local FPI radio network with the backhaul connection. The brochure describes collection of short-circuit and earth-fault events, fault current, load current, battery alarms and device status. A useful installation links each device ID to its feeder, phase and physical location so an alarm can be interpreted by the operating team.
Capacity and radio planning
The stated connection capacity is nine indicators, described as three lines with three phases each. Radio coverage is a site-design issue, not simply a device-count calculation. Distance, structures, vegetation, mounting position and antenna orientation should be checked by a field communication test. The FPI table gives a communication-distance entry of 100 without a unit, so that entry is not treated here as a guaranteed range.
Solar-powered pole assembly
The illustrated assembly combines the enclosure, external antennas, solar module, support bracket and pole straps. Catalogue values include a 30 W solar panel and a 6.4 V, 16.5 Ah battery. Solar exposure, seasonal charging conditions, shading, cable entries and maintenance access must be reviewed for the installation location. Battery autonomy is not specified by the supplied document.
Cellular and SCADA integration
The brochure lists GSM/GPRS/3G/4G variants, dual-SIM standby and configurable IEC 60870-5-101, IEC 60870-5-104 and DNP3 support. The cellular bands, modem variant and protocol implementation must be confirmed before purchase. Integration requires an agreed point list, addressing, timestamps, event handling, reporting intervals and a successful end-to-end test; listing a protocol does not establish interoperability with every SCADA system.
Remote operations and notifications
Listed functions include parameter management, reset commands, low-battery reporting, load-current uploads and maintenance using a handheld tool or SMS commands. Remote control privileges and SMS recipients should be restricted to the agreed operators. The brochure gives differing SMS-recipient limits in different sections, so notification capacity and escalation behaviour must be confirmed with the proposed software and DCU version.
